    About the Position

    This position is 3/4 time position with the possibility of full time with the right applicant. Duties are outlined in the job description below. The ideal applicant will have Christian camping experience with an understanding of maintenance and a heart for the ministry of summer camp.  Although this position looks after the maintenance side of camp it will not be limited to maintenance, but will also be expected to help out in other areas of camp.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Assistant Director/Site Manager position, as with any other Dauphin Bible Camp position is a missionary position. As such it will never be viewed as a job but as an opportunity to share the work of Christ with campers, ministry staff, and our community. The salvation of the lost and the spiritual growth of the saved are our major objectives.  "So that we may present everyone perfect in Christ Jesus."  Colossians 1:28.

    A)    Responsible to: The Dauphin Bible Camp Board and CSSM Ministries –MB through the DBC Director (direct Supervisor).

      

    B)    Qualifications

    1. truly born again  (1 Peter 1:23)
    2.  spiritually mature and growing (Philippians 3:10-16)
    3. of sound Christian character (1Thessalonians 2:10-12)
    4. mature (age appropriate) and physically capable of handling work.
    5. in good standing with an Evangelical Church
    6. experienced in Christian ministry to people of all ages 
    7. self-motivated, aggressive and creative
    8. willing to submit to authority
    9. capable of testifying of the ministry in an effective way while in a group settings   
    10. able to subscribe, without reservation, to the CSSM Ministries doctrinal statement, as well as to the principles and practices of the Mission
    11. The applicant should have the whole-hearted support of their spouse. The spouse should view his/her self as a full-time partner in this ministry. However, the Assistant Director/Site Manager and their spouse (not the Camp Board) shall determine the extent of the spouse’s direct involvement in the work.
    12. Have an attitude like that of Christ Jesus being humble and always looking how to serve others.
      Ideally the Site Manger would have, but must be willing to learn:
    13. Completion of secondary school (recommended).
    14. Training or work experience with computers doing up letters and proposals, making reports, doing spread sheets, printing and emailing.
    15. Training or work experience with small engines such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, tillers, quads, snow blowers, etc.
    16. Training or work experience with construction and agricultural equipment such as loaders, trenchers, plate compactors, tractors, forklifts, etc.
    17. Several years of training or work experience in construction trades such as carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical, etc.
    18. Some experience with security systems and facilities security measures.
    19. Some experience with horses; their stabling, feed, water, tack, fencing, etc.
    20. Some experience with in-ground pools, their pumps, filters, heaters, chemicals, purification equipment and water sampling and analysis techniques.
    21. Some experience in horticulture, landscaping and grounds maintenance as pertaining to the use of herbicides, pesticides, rodenticides and traps.
    22. Some experience in cleaning and cleaning products, safe use and storage, etc.
    23. Current WHMIS certification.  
    24. A minimum of Standard First Aid and CPR that is kept up to date.
    25. Training to some degree in safe food preparation and storage as set forth by Manitoba Health and Food Inspectors.

     

    C)     Responsibilities

    1.  Be responsible for the proper use, maintenance and storage of all tools and machinery.
    2. Work in a manner that is safe
    3. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
    4. Plan, organize, maintain and evaluate the operations, janitorial, and maintenance needs of the facility (be they buildings, grounds (including grass), janitorial and other structures) as directed by the Camp Director.
    5. Ensure snow is removed from all buildings, steps, ramps, paths, and driveways on a regular basis that are used or needed during the winter months. Exceptions to this are residence entrances, such as the East deck on the Shilo building.  
    6. Inspect the construction and maintenance of new and existing buildings, play structures, sports fields/structures, pathways, driveways, roads, fences and natural areas to ensure that building codes, specifications and safety issues are identified and addressed in a timely fashion. Weekly inspection sheets are to be maintained and kept in a binder.
    7. Develop, maintain, and assist when needed with winter activities at the camp, including, but not limited to, the toboggan hill, skating rink, etc.
    8. Develop and maintain maintenance Site Plans for things such as, but not limited, to hydro services, telephone, propane, alarms, pest control, water, sewer, etc.
    9. Direct, co-ordinate and supervise the activities of tradespersons, installers, repairers, service personal, and other volunteers doing work or maintenance in/on the facility.
      a.    NOTE: There may be at times a major project where the Assistant Director/Site Manager may not be directly responsible, not have the authority, to direct the building, contractors, suppliers, etc as that authority has been passed onto another appointed by the Camp Board.
    10. Work as a part of the Dauphin Bible Camp Missionary team. This will mean there will be extra responsibility during the summer months as a part of our summer ministry:
           a.    Guide, disciple, teach and direct the Work Crew via the work crew leader in their summer duties.
           b.     Attend DBC staff meetings.
           c.    Assist the Program Director with program needs/maintenance when requested. 
    11. Host rental groups on rotation with other full time ministry staff.
    12. Plan and oversee work days.
    13. Coordinate camp work projects.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
    15. This is not an all-inclusive list of work responsibilities but rather seen as another part in the development of the Camp’s ministry opportunities.

     

    D)     Support

    1.  The Assistant Director/Site Manager is to specifically address (ex. by making up and distributing prayer/support cards, etc.) the need to find personal support(prayer/financial) from churches and friends with a goal of having 25% of the Assistant Director/Site Manager position assisted by support.
    2. All support is to be channelled through the Manitoba Branch Office or Camp Board and is not up and above the maximum amount agreed upon as monthly salary.
    3. It is the Camp Board's desire to fulfill the financial needs of the Assistant Director/Site Manager & family for time worked. The financial support package would include the following: Base salary as of current Camp Board commitment; a personnel benefits package is provided as part of the salary package.

     

    E)    Expenses

    1.  The Camp Board is to include coverage of expenses for travel (i.e. mileage paid for camp business) and compensation for personal tools used if those tools have not been provided by the Camp.
    2. Any expenses should be cleared by the Camp Office prior to spending to ensure proper communication and that those expenses will be reimbursed by the camp.

     

    F)    Holidays

    Vacation time is determined by the number of years an individual serves as outlined in the CSSM Ministries Handbook.

      

    G)    Term
    The position of Assistant Director/Site Manager is taken with the understanding that it is for a  minimum period of three years (first year being probational). Preferably, notice of resignation or release shall be submitted in writing at least 3 months before it takes effect. The Assistant Director/Site Manager should not resign his/her duties between April 1 and September 30 (fiscal year end is September 30) although notice of his/her intentions may be given during this time.  Exceptions to this would be in the event of serious illness or other reasons deemed valid by all parties concerned (Camp Director, Camp Board and Branch Director).

    H)    Accountability and Reports

    1. Application must be made to the Manitoba Branch of the Canadian Sunday School Mission Ministries. Both husband and wife (if applicable) must apply and be accepted as workers of CSSM Ministries-MB.
    2. The Assistant Director/Site Manager is accountable to the Camp Director.
    3. A written report is to be given the Camp Director five days before any Camp Board meeting. Parts of this report may be shared in the Camp Director’s Board report. 
    4. Upon occasion the Assistant Director/Site Manager will be invited to the Board meeting to speak about or to a particular issue.
    5. In order to ensure better communication all camp related office work is to be done in the Camp offices. This includes, but is not limited to, emailing, database work, reports, planning, etc.

     

    I)     Conferences

    1. New missionary workers are required to attend the Missionary Orientation conducted by National Office (usually in Fall).
    2. Mission workers are required to be at annual Branch Conferences and National Conferences (held every 5th year)

     

    J) Additional Recommendations

    Spiritual

    1. Spend all the time that is necessary to keep spiritual and grow in the Lord.  Schedule this in to your day’s activities (regular devotions & prayer).  Do this when you are at your best physically.
    2. Schedule, with your spouse’s input, spiritual times for the two of you alone.
    3. Read and watch good materials and provide some for your spouse.
    4. Be verbal and audible in declaring dependence on the Holy Spirit for all tasks.  Claim fullness of the Holy Spirit regularly.
    5. Make resisting the devil a way of life.
    6. Accept the Cross and self-denial as normal missionary experience.
    7. Meet with the Camp Director and other leadership ministry staff to pray.

     

    Social/Family

    1. Take breaks; do not be a workaholic.
    2. Schedule time with your children.
    3. Schedule family outings and activities.
    4. Take care of your physical needs, health, rest, exercise and nutritional food.
    5. Involve yourself in those community activities that are acceptable and will open the door to make friendship bridges for sharing Christ.
    6. Keep free from debt.  Make sure house mortgages are no more pressing than rental payments would be.
    7. The Assistant Director/Site Manager is an ambassador of the Camp and must seek in every way possible to establish and maintain good public relations with the community, but without compromise of Biblical standards.
